Meta's New Slop Feed

The Recap: Meta launched Vibes, a new feed in its Meta AI app dedicated exclusively to short-form, AI-generated videos. The launch was met with immediate and widespread criticism, with many users labeling the content "AI slop."
Unpacked:
The new feed allows users to create their own AI videos, remix content from other creators by adding music or changing the visuals, and share them across Instagram and Facebook.
While Meta develops its own video models, Vibes currently runs on models from external AI labs, including Midjourney and Black Forest Labs.
The announcement sparked widespread ridicule online, fueling the debate over the internet being cluttered with low-quality, mass-produced AI content.
Bottom line: This launch positions Meta at the center of the debate over the value and purpose of purely AI-generated media. The success of Vibes will ultimately test whether users see it as a powerful creative tool or just another source of digital noise.

A New Web for AI

The Recap: Cloudflare just announced AI Index, a new system that lets website owners create an AI-optimized version of their site, control access, and get paid when AI models come crawling.
Unpacked:
Instead of AI models blindly scraping websites, AI Index creates a pub/sub model where builders can subscribe to sites for real-time, structured content updates.
The system automatically generates standardized tools, including APIs and an
llms.txt
file, which acts as a machine-readable map for AI models based on an emerging open standard. This new framework creates a two-sided marketplace, allowing creators to monetize their content through a Pay per crawl model while providing AI developers with cleaner, permissioned data.
Bottom line: This move could fundamentally reshape the web's economy by creating a direct financial link between content creation and AI consumption. It offers a potential solution to the ongoing debate over fair use and compensation in the age of generative AI.

The AI Skills Gap

The Recap: IT services giant Accenture is cutting staff who cannot be reskilled for the AI era while simultaneously planning to increase its overall headcount. The move highlights a significant workforce shift where AI expertise is becoming a non-negotiable skill.
Unpacked:
Despite its workforce shrinking by 11,000 last quarter, the company is undergoing a talent rotation and still expects headcount to grow in the US and Europe next year.
Accenture is doubling down on AI investment, nearly doubling its data and AI specialists to 77,000 since 2023 and training over 550,000 employees on generative AI fundamentals.
The company is taking an $865 million charge for restructuring costs, including severance and divesting two acquisitions, to reinvest savings into high-priority areas.
Bottom line: For professionals in the tech services industry, this signals that AI skills are shifting from a specialization to a baseline expectation. Accenture's strategy serves as a blueprint for how large enterprises will likely retool their workforces for the age of AI.

How We Use ChatGPT

The Recap: In the largest study of its kind, OpenAI and Harvard researchers analyzed 1.5 million conversations to reveal that ChatGPT is evolving into a mainstream tool for practical guidance and information seeking in both our personal and professional lives.
Unpacked:
Early gender gaps in usage have closed, with the share of users with typically feminine names rising from 37% in January 2024 to 52% by July 2025.
Three-quarters of conversations focus on practical guidance, seeking information, and writing—which together account for nearly 80% of all use.
While around 30% of usage is work-related, the majority of conversations focus on non-work tasks, highlighting its dual role as a productivity and personal utility tool.
Bottom line: The findings show ChatGPT is shifting from a technical novelty into a mainstream utility for everyday problem-solving. This broadening adoption suggests AI's value is measured less by its performance on complex tasks and more by its seamless integration into our daily routines.
